About Us
Clifton badminton club
meets twice a week at the sports hall of
St Peters School in Bootham, York. We play from the beginning of September through to the end of April on a Monday
from 7:00pm to 10:00pm and Friday from 7:30pm to 10:00pm.
We play with feather shuttlecocks and the facilites include 5 badminton courts and changing rooms.
The club places emphasis on competitive badminton and welcomes high standard players looking for a high
standard of badminton. We have a busy list of fixtures but nevertheless, for
social play we always reserve a minimum of 3 courts on a club night.
At Clifton badminton club you can be assured of a warm welcome, friendly
members and a good standard of play. There are also many opportunities to join
teams of varying standards and meet other members for a sociable drink afterwards.
We are particulary looking for players with experience of university, local or county badminton to
join our club. Team trials take place at the start September so please attend our club in this
period if you wish to challenge for a team place.
We also provide our members with free coaching.
This is a service offered to the keener badminton player or the player returning from injury to practice
their own techniques in a non-competitive environment.
We enter eight teams in
the York and District League and three teams in the Yorkshire League providing a
large opportunity for competitive badminton.
Our league positions for season 2009/2010 are very strong with our first ladies, second ladies,
first mixed, second mixed, third mixed, first mens and second mens teams all participating in Division 1. The only team outside of the top divisions
is our third mens team who are in division 2.
Our first Yorkshire League team compete in division 3 with our second team now joining
them after winning promotion from division 4.
